EVICS Executive Director

Executive Director Job Description

Full-time; Position to start in mid-June 2020

Reports to: Board of Directors

Job Location: Estes Park, CO

Position Summary:

The Executive Director has primary responsibility for the leadership of the EVICS Family Resource Center, a dynamic non-profit organization which provides support and coordination around early childhood services, connects families to community resources, and provides parent education services. Responsibilities include staff supervision, resource development, budget and financial management, grant writing and management, and program leadership. The Executive Director is expected to be highly engaged with community and county partners, and actively involved in community initiatives around early childhood and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management of Operations:

  • Oversee and coordinate the day to day operations of the organization
  • Ensure program implementation compliance with all requirements of CO Family Resource Center Association
  • Work with officers and members of the board
  • Oversee staff, including compliance with all personnel policies and legal requirements
  • Oversee interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Follow legal responsibilities associated with 501(c)3
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in early childhood in the region

Leadership:

  • Promote the organization’s mission to support and strengthen families and children in the Estes Valley
  • Provide staff support to the Board of Directors
  • Identify opportunities for community collaborations to address early childhood issues
  • Foster relationships with community partners from multiple domains, including, but not limited to business, government, non-profit, early childhood, health care
  • Promote community investments in early childhood and family services
  • Represent EVICS on the ECCLC Advisory Board, the Town of Estes Park Family Advisory Board, and other committees as required.

Strategic Planning and Evaluation:

  • Oversee development of short and long-term strategic plans, and track progress on goals
  • Oversee on-going data collection on community early childhood programs and needs

Grant Management:

  • Track all grants and grant contracts to ensure compliance with funder requirements
  • Ensure sound fiscal management of all funds

Resource Development:

  • Lead fundraising efforts and nurture positive relationships with donors
  • Oversee donor data-base and maximize utilization and outcomes
  • Track resources to determine adequate funding for programs and services
  • Oversee and participate in grant writing to ensure adequate funds
  • In conjunction with the Board of Directors, monitor resources and create long-term financial strategies

Fiscal Management:

  • Work with the Board to prepare an annual budget
  • Oversee and manage budget, including monitoring day to day fiscal procedures and end of year fiscal processes
  • Ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines and present financial reports regularly to the board
  • Coordinate payroll services with qualified provider and ensure accurate and timely payroll reporting
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and memoranda of understanding with any contractors and partnering agencies
  • Coordinate an annual financial review

Education and Work Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years management level non-profit experience, including supervision and financial management
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Solid budget and financial management skills, including budget preparation, tracking, and reporting
  • Experienced facilitator
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Background in early childhood issues a plus
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook

Bilingual (Spanish/English) Parent Educator

The Parent Educator works under the direction of the Parent Education Coordinator to support parent education and outreach efforts of the organization, including working directly with parents, families and children utilizing Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum. The position will also provide translation services and program assistance on projects and assignments as needed. 

Qualifications and Requirements:

High School diploma required at minimum; Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or Human Services field of study preferred.

Experience working with young children and their parents required.

Experience in working on a team and with volunteers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Competent computer skills

Must possess valid CO driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of current auto insurance.

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct home visits and required follow-up and reporting. 
  • Assist with planning and execution of Group Connections and developmental screenings that meet program requirements.   
  • Support marketing and family recruitment efforts, with special emphasis on recruiting and enrolling Spanish-speaking families into Family Support Program.
  • Assess family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.
  • Represent EVICS at various community events.

Educador de Padres Bilingue (Español/Inglés)

Inversión en el éxito de la infancia en el Valle de Estes (EVICS)

El Educador de Padres trabaja bajo la dirección del Coordinador de Educación para Padres para apoyar los esfuerzos de divulgación de recursos de la organización y educación de los padres de familia, incluyendo trabajar directamente con los padres, las familias y los niños que utilizan el currículo de Padres como Maestros (PAT).  El puesto también proporcionará servicios de traducción y asistencia en los proyectos y metas para la familia según sea necesario. 

Cualificaciones y Requisitos:

Se requiere un diploma de escuela secundaria como mínimo; Licenciatura en Educación Infantil temprana o estudios en el campo de Servicios Humanos preferido.

Se requiere experiencia trabajando con niños pequeños y sus padres.

Experiencia en trabajar en equipo y con voluntarios.

Excelentes habilidades de comunicación verbal y escrita requeridas.

Habilidades en computación competente

Debe poseer una licencia de conducir de CO válida, un vehículo confiable y una prueba del seguro de automóvil actual.

Responsabilidades Generales:

• Realizar visitas domiciliarias, hacer los seguimientos e informes requeridos. 

• Ayudar con la planificación y ejecución de conexiones de grupos y exámenes de desarrollo para niños que cumplan con los requisitos del programa.  

• Apoyar los esfuerzos de marketing y reclutamiento de nuevas familias, con énfasis en reclutar e inscribir a familias de habla hispana en el Programa de Apoyo A la Familia.

• Evaluar las necesidades de la familia y proporcionar información, orientación y apoyo apropiados para el soporte a los padres.

• Representar a EVICS en diversos eventos de la comunidad.

Poseer habilidades efectivas de comunicación escrita y verbal y estar cómodo relacionándose con el público.

Desarrollar relaciones de confianza con los padres y ser un ejemplo para las relaciones padre-hijo.
